Certain Silverado and Sierra pickups were produced with brake-caliper bolts that were not heat-treated. Without heat-treating, the bolts are weaker than they should be, and there is a risk that they could fail, which would affect the trucks’ braking performance, possibly leading to a crash. In total, 20,352 vehicles are affected. Owners of affected trucks will be contacted by GM. Dealers will inspect the bolts and replace those that are defective. Back in October, Ford recalled some 20,000 2019 Ranger pickup trucks in North America for faulty HVAC blower motors that could suffer an electrical short, possibly leading to overheating and creating the risk of a fire. Now, Ford is recalling over 5,000 of those same trucks (specifically, 5,384 in the United States and 418 in Canada) for the same reason. Turns out, the replacement blower motor has the same problem. As Ford says, “The replacement part used for that service may have been built with an improper clearance between an electrical terminal and the conductive base-plate slot that could result in a resistive electrical short.” The result can be overheating, melting, smoking, and potentially a fire. The company says it is not aware of any fires, accidents, or injuries related to this issue. These leaked photographs come our way courtesy of BroncoSportForum.com and appear to depict a higher-trim model, which is what we’d expect Ford to be showing off early in the new trucklet’s lifecycle. This is our first real look at Ford’s new junior 4×4, and while previous photos of prototypes gave us pretty strong hints at its overall shape and proportions, this is the first time we’ve been exposed to any of the details. The statue, which serves as a link to the energy of an ancestor, was destroyed, as was the platform on which it stood. Thus far, details about what caused the accident are unclear. Some reports indicate the truck lost control due to brake failure, but that is unconfirmed. Further complicating the matter, a CNN caption states that nobody was in the car when it crashed. According to BBC (via CarScoops), however, authorities located the driver and reportedly charged him with damaging a national monument. The investigation is ongoing. Following the incident, the island’s mayor Pedro Pablo Petero Edmunds Paoa revisited a movement to restrict driving on the island that he had originally proposed years ago. He believes the accident is proof that the time for action is now, even if now is already too late.
