When you’re the community manager at Memphis Car Audio, there’s a decent chance your ride is eventually going to get stuffed to the gills with Memphis Car Audio gear. After all, it’s not only a perk; it’s your job! And such is the case with Mitchell Metcalf and his ’08 Ford F-250 Lariat. Mitchell has been a part of the truck scene since he was a kid. He grew up watching his brother build mini-trucks and go to shows.
As Mitchell tells us, “If it wasn’t for my brother Bob Baldwin taking me to shows at a young age and making me work in the shop to go to those shows, I may have never found something I truly love doing.”
It was that early exposure to working on custom vehicles that led Mitchell to the automotive aftermarket industry, and eventually car audio. More about that later.
Mitchell’s latest build is his most impressive yet. It sits sky-high thanks to a 14-inch Stryker Off Road Design lift with rear 4-link and FOA coilover shocks. A lift of that magnitude requires a massive set of rollers, so the 26×16 American Force CK210 Armada CCFP wheels and 40×15.50-R26 Ironman tires were a logical choice that also set off the red paint perfectly.
I will always believe that the best part of having a custom vehicle is spending the countless hours working on it. Once all the work is done for me, I seem to find myself bored and wanting to have something else to work on.
Things were kept pretty tame under the hood, which houses the 6.4L Powerstroke diesel engine. A set of Rudy’s Diesel Stage 2 pushrods were installed, then sealed up with ARP head studs, and a MBRP 5-inch exhaust was bolted on to let the turbos wind up without restriction.
For Mitchell, his love of the truck scene runs deep, and nothing feels better to him than being able to share that love with others.
At this stage, the truck was already attracting a ton of attention, but Mitchell wanted to add a little more flash to the exterior (as if the detailed suspension wasn’t enough!), so he installed a custom Boost Bars grille, Bodyguard fabricated bumpers, and Recon LED lighting all around. With some final details like billet tow hooks and badges, there’s no ignoring this F-250!
The focal point for Mitchell, however, was the interior and sound system. After building custom interior panels and upholstering the seats with Aleah leather, Mitchell and friend Ben Rogers got to work on installing the multitude of Memphis Audio stereo components, which are controlled by the Kenwood DDX9606 head unit. The insane stereo system build-out was continued in the bed, where the Memphis Audio amps and four Memphis tower speakers were installed. Now that’s a surefire way to get folks to ask a bunch of questions about your audio setup at shows!

“I love being able to work on vehicles and help friends with theirs,” he says. “I will always believe that the best part of having a custom vehicle is spending the countless hours working on it. I think we can all relate! under the hood, mitchell kept things relatively tame with a 6.4L Powerstroke diesel engine.
