There’s an old idea that says the more you do something, the better you get at it. If that’s true, then the 48th annual Daytona Turkey Run must be approaching perfection! Entertaining enthusiasts from around the country and literally with spectators arriving from around the world, this Thanksgiving weekend show is rapidly approaching the half-century mark. What makes it unique is the format that ensures there is something for everyone. Head to the eastern section of the infield at the legendary Daytona International Speedway and you will see an amazing grouping of more than 5,000 collector cars. Uniquely, there are no classes or awards since the Turkey Run has always been designed around fun. On the other hand, if you were looking to fill the void in the family garage, this event is also tailored just for you. With more than 1,500 cars in the Car Corral, you are sure to find something for every taste and budget. Of course, if there is a project car in the garage, the collection of swap meet vendors had thousands of collector car parts and pieces available to ensure a successful completion. Finally, Artisan Alley could be the perfect opportunity for handmade crafts and fashion items, helping you find a special gift for that special enthusiast. TV personality Cristy Lee from All Girls Garage was also there. Lots of folks stopped by, said hi and grabbed an autograph. But there’s more! Did you need a little help covering the vast expanse of the Speedway? Scooter Time Rentals made it easy to see it all. Food vendors in dozens of locations throughout the track kept energy levels high while Hops and Hoods had 120 craft beer samples to quench your thirst. Lots of folks look forward to the mid-afternoon door prize giveaways where significant prizes go home with new owners. The annual raffle car, a 2019 Mustang equipped with a 310 hp motor and 6-speed trans had everyone waiting to get the call from “Big” Rick Finzer, Charter Member of the Daytona Beach Street Rods and Director of Car Show Operations. After that Saturday night drawing, Rick called John Clifton from McConnelsville, Ohio, who was already on his way home. Clifton is now a very happy guy!
