You can’t have a good home without a solid foundation—meaning the sheetmetal. Before getting into sound deadening and carpet installation, we will make sure the substrate is solid and will not rust in the future. That is where the POR-15 three-step process comes into play. The POR-15 3-Step Stop Rust System is designed to stop rust on metal. The company ensures best results when POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating is applied. Prepare and prime bare metal or directly paint rust with confidence. The clear-cut process when using this rust stopper for metal allows for the proper cleaning, prepping, and coating of metal to create a non-porous surface that seals and protects metal from water, chemicals, salt, acids, alkalis, and other corrosive contaminants, according to the company. The main thing to remember is prep, the key to any good finish. We started by stripping our interior and getting it down to the metal and original paint. Once we got there, it was time to start the process. 3 Simple Steps Step 1: Use the POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser to remove grease, oil, dirt, and grime in one application without leaving residues, noxious fumes, or flammable solvents. Step 2: Use the POR-15 Metal Prep, which provides the best adhesion for POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating on any metal surface, including shiny polished metal surfaces. Step 3: Start using the POR-15 Rust Preventive Coating, which is a high-tech, high-performance rust preventive coating designed for application directly on stable rust or seasoned metal surfaces. It provides permanent rust protection with a hammer-tough finish resistant to acids, alkalis, and repels all fuels and oils. 01. You will need to use the Cleaner Degreaser for step 1. 02. Soak the entire floor & let it sit the recommended time. 03. Once the floor has been degreased, rinse it off & let it dry. 04. Next step is use the Metal Prep solution. 05. Make sure that every inch you are going to coat has been soaked in metal prep. You also want to keep the metal prep wet for 15-20 min. So make sure to keep walking around & spraying it. After 20 min just rinse off with water. 06. Its now time to lay down some POR15. 07(a). We started with the back wall & fire wall. We laid down some plastic so that we can manuver around inside the cab without getting any oils, debris or contaminants on the prepped surface. 07(b). We started with the back wall & fire wall.
