We wake up every day and work toward one of our goals not knowing what could happen next. For me, at a young age I discovered that I wanted to work in the automotive industry. One of the people who inspired me tremendously in my youth was professional rally driver Ken Block. I remember watching Rob and Big and seeing Ken do the first gymkhana video. That experience changed the course of life my in the best way. I eventually realized my dream. I did not know Ken very well. We crossed paths a couple of times over the years. I’ve heard it said that you don’t always meet your idols; if you hope to, you will be disappointed. Well, that wasn’t the case for me. I actually did meet Ken, my idol. The three times we hung out together were great. I feel lucky to have those memories. How he inspired an entire generation of enthusiasts is unparalleled. I have heard several people compare Ken to the late Carroll Shelby, and I think that is an apt comparison. Both were extreme in their passion, both raced with 125% of themselves, and both inspired me and so many others to get into the automotive industry. I want to say rest in paradise, Ken. I will pray for your family and loved ones. My deepest condolences. slunger@engaged.media
