F-100 Roundup

The Texoma Roundup, created by Allen “The Sheriff” Davis, has been growing every year since its inception in 2016. F-100s and other Fords including Broncos, F-1s, F-150s, F-250s as well as related Mercury products have been traveling to the show from the surrounding region and beyond in increasing numbers.

With the 5th annual Roundup canceled in the 2020 season due to the pandemic, the hype and anticipation for the 6th annual Texoma Roundup was at an all-time high. There was only one issue: weather. While the forecast looked good 10 days out, as the days passed by the forecast was changing for the worse. By Friday, the chance of rain had increased significantly for Saturday’s show, and this threw a wrench in the highly organized toolbox. Because the normal show location is at scenic Leonard Park, which has few hard surfaces and is mostly grass, this created an issue with parking—think mud. Thinking and acting quickly, Allen teamed up with the city of Gainesville and quickly arranged for the show to move from Leonard Park to the beautiful and historic old downtown Gainesville. It has all the amenities, including shopping, restaurants, and that old town feel.

With everything set in place, the show was ready to continue rain or shine. And this is where the fairy tale ending comes in play—the rain never showed up on Saturday! Follow along as we share our adventure.

We were invited by Steve Mills to follow him, KC (owner of KC’s Paint Shop) and a few other Ford folks to the Roundup and, let me tell you, we had a heck of a good time! We woke up early to a foggy morning; you could see the fog in the headlights as we headed out. The drive was about 15 minutes from our house to KC’s shop. It seemed like everyone arrived about the same time. We took a few quick pictures of the trucks and their owners, and then gathered everything to hit the road. From there we made a quick stop to top off fuel and grab some road snacks then jumped on Interstate 35 North toward Gainesville.

Cruising in cool trucks always makes time fly and before we knew it, we were at the event in no time. When arriving at the show we were pleasantly surprised at the high turnout of beautiful Ford and Mercury trucks of all styles. There was everything from 100% factory stock F-100s to full customs laid out on airbags with Coyote swaps. Talking with Mr. Davis, the final numbers showed well over 200 truck entries and a large group of non-entry attendees. This, combined with the Gainesville Spring Fling, showed well over 3,000 spectators throughout the day.

In the end, considering the chance of unfavorable weather, the 6th annual Texoma Roundup was a massive success! We would like to thank the show promoter Allen Davis, his wife Renee, Kristi Perez and all the folks that made this entire show happen. We definitely look forward to the 2022 Texoma Roundup!
