Cool Classic Trucks on display in Sevierville, Tennessee
We travel the country to find the best truck shows on the circuit and the annual September F-100 Supernationals have been entertaining fans for more than four decades. One of the sport’s longest-running events, the show attracted almost 400 Ford-powered vehicles from 27 states to the Sevierville Convention Center in Sevierville, Tennessee. Starting on Thursday, everyone settles in looking forward to the weekend action. The real excitement begins on Friday with show promoter Charlie Cobble welcoming the crowd.
Patriotism is always a strong part of the event and the local Marine Corps detachment opened the event, officiating at the National Anthem and the flag folding ceremony. Veterans in the crowd were called up, thanked, and given custom embroidered hats. The unveiling of freshly completed vehicles followed something that’s become an exciting tradition at the event. There were half a dozen debuting trucks and the crowd applauded as the owners removed their truck covers while Charlie explained the details of each new build.
In addition to the multicolored collection of vehicles on display, show-goers could visit multiple manufacturing displays indoors and the swap meets sellers outdoors. Everyone enjoyed the combination of the delightful Tennessee sunshine and the cool facilities inside. The Convention Center food team served up the perfect lunch each day. The awards ceremony Saturday afternoon began by giving away a huge collection of significant door prizes but all eyes were on the display of specialty trophies that included the Elite Five and the Ultimate Ten, along with more than 120 additional plaques to deserving drivers. Jerry Bland and his 1956 F-100 captured the coveted Editors Choice Award. The 500 hp 390FE V-8 means it goes as good as it looks!
