Ford Fans Flock to Bowling Green, Kentucky Holley Intergalactic Ford Fest & the NMRA World Finals, held at the Beech Bend Raceway Park and NCM Motorsports Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky, is quite an event-name mouthful. This isn’t just any old, ordinary event. This is the mecca for Ford Motor Company fans. You have a little bit of everything out here, from Ford and Lincoln to Mercury. The event itself has so much going on. You have NMRA drag racing, autocross, drifting, car and truck show, off-road experience, swap meet, and my personal favorite—the burnout competition. It is a jam-packed schedule throughout the event, and you will not have a moment of boredom. Aside from going to all the events and enjoying all the entertainment, which is fun and exciting, you get to spend time seeing friends, meeting new ones, and checking out all the cool cars and trucks. This year, The Ford Era bunch crew got a little Ford-truck-parking area and had a good amount of friends come out to showcase some trucks. We had such a great time. The trucks and cars on display left us speechless. Brothers Composites unveiled its full carbon-fiber bump side (check it out on page XYZ). The guys from Jack’d Up Trucks unveiled their newest creation, which is a F-600 dent side crew cab that we will be seeing in an upcoming issue of F-100 Builder’s Guide. The talk of the weekend was our beloved Snickers. We swapped in a Ford Performance 7.3L Godzilla that the guys at Mast Motorsports tuned up to a whopping 700-plus hp. We all know that horsepower and rubber always make for a good time, and I thought it would be fun to sign up for the burnout competition. It all kind of happened so fast, but it turned out that Snickers had a limited slip rearend, and while doing a donut, the right rear wheel got off the ground and sped up a ton before coming back to the asphalt and exploding. The 33-inch tire blew with such force that it clean ripped off all the spot welds from the inner bedside. It came down on the roof, and the tire itself disintegrated into hundreds of pieces going as far as a half-mile away. Luckily, nobody was hurt, except for my soul and our Snickers. But this definitely wasn’t the nail in the coffin for her. As you will see in some upcoming issues of F-100 Builder’s Guide, we have teamed up with companies like Auto Metal Direct and DelFab to bring her back to her former glory. We are already looking forward to next year’s event. See you next year in Bowling Green, Kentucky! See you all out there!
