We know you guys like to see how these products are made, and knowing they are made in this great country we call our own makes the story even more intriguing. Based in San Antonio, Texas, Vintage Air Inc. offers the most comprehensive line of high-performance aftermarket air conditioning components available. This impressive company is proudly owned and operated by experienced street rodders, many of whom have been involved in the sport for more than 30 years. Their ultimate goal is to help you cool your specialty vehicle with parts specially designed for sport and classic trucks. Based out of San Antonio, Texas, Vintage Air Inc. offers the most comprehensive line of high-performance aftermarket air conditioning components available. As the original inventors of street rod and performance air conditioning, Vintage Air is determined to continue setting the standards for the industry. Over the past few years, this powerful company has concentrated on bringing in the absolute best, most qualified craftsman to help meet the challenges of growth. Vintage Air has always taken a “complete system” approach to its product line. Recently, the company introduced new billet aluminum control panels for its Gen IV Systems in the ’67-’72 Chevy C10s, with more applications on the way. These new panels have more functions, with smaller control panels that may be remotely mounted. Also be sure to check out its all-new, award-winning Streamline and Streamline II series of dash vents, control panels and knobs. These beautiful new accessories will give you more design choices for your interior finish. The “World’s Fastest Air Conditioning Company” is committed to supplying the very best components and knowledge available. The crew there has worked hard to become the most respected name in performance air and has received more industry awards than any company in street rodding. SOURCES Vintage Air www.vintageair.com 800-862-6658 SureFit systems are available for a growing variety of makes and models of cars, making installation easier than ever before. The principal benefit of the SureFit kit is that the components are very specific to the vehicle, so comprehensive instruction manuals have virtually eliminated the most common mistakes made in many air conditioning installations. The Front Runner drive system eliminates all mounting points beyond the engine block itself providing a super-compact component package that overcomes any intake, exhaust or cylinder head option problems. Complete production is done in house, including design, engineering and production. A production-line style system keeps all the orders flowing smoothly and more quickly than any other A/C product on the market. To start production, a worker grabs a sheet of ABS plastic and brings it to the molds. Many pieces can be made using one sheet of ABS plastic. With the pre-engineered mold prepped, the ABS can be added and heated. After the ABS is cooled, it can be removed from the mold and set on a table for trimming. After the ABS is cooled, it can be removed from the mold and set on a table for trimming. As one worker begins the assembly process, another starts cutting metal for the brackets and mounting plates. The metal brackets are all hung on a wire rack and dipped into a cleaning solution before being covered with a protecting coating so it lasts as long as the truck. The cooling units are now ready to assemble. Luckily the entire team at Vintage Air is made up of highly skilled individuals who make it look easy. With the complete unit produced, the parts can be combined and connected permanently. This unit comes as a whole and you don’t need to do anything other than bolt it to your truck! The final step in production is testing, which each and every unit receives. They check connections, quality and craftsmanship. If it’s not perfect, it doesn’t get shipped. After inspection, the units are wrapped in plastic and set on the shelf, awaiting their final destination. When their time comes, they are boxed up and sent out the door. Maybe yours is next in line! All the billet pieces for the Vintage Air Front Runner pulley kit are built in house as well. Lathes and CNC machines handle the majority of the work before the employees add the final details and a perfect polish.
