Joining the ranks of some other national and more localized packages (looking at you, Texas Edition), it adds some aesthetic bits along with some of the Silverado HD’s more-frequently selected add-ons. Chevy’s Carhartt tie-up is certainly not the first between an apparel company and an automaker. The most famous is Ford with Eddie Bauer, but there have also been those with LL Bean (Subaru), Mossy Oak (Ram) and Orvis (Jeep), just to name a few. Back in the day, high-end fashion designers and brands would partner with luxury automakers, most notably Lincoln. Pairing Chevy with Carhartt certainly makes sense. Known for producing work clothes and hunting gear, the century-old American clothing brand is also headquartered in the Detroit metro area. Win-win. Yes, it was a Jeep, and a Rubicon, and with the low-end grunt of a diesel engine. But it hadn’t gone where the other Jeeps go. It got dirty at this off-road playground by sticking to the roads. When handed a Jeep fob, you’re drawn to the backcountry, in this case the Walker Valley ORV Park on state land east of bucolic Mount Vernon. Walker Valley offers 36 miles of ATV and motorcycle trails, and 10 miles of 4×4 trails through forests and clear-cuts. But recon via YouTube videos revealed some gnarly terrain, with Jeeps rock-hopping, crunching into trees and driving through cuts as deep as the door handles. Who would borrow a $67,000 press truck and do that? More of a question, who would crunch one’s own $67,000 truck? Things have escalated since then, as the company has now announced that it will be entering a revised version of the that barebones electric truck in the San Felipe 250, a SCORE International Baja race down in Mexico. This should be interesting for a variety of reasons. The company hopes to be the first electric vehicle manufacturer to complete the race. And that should be a bit of a challenge, because the estimated range of the Endurance is 250 miles. The length of the race, a single loop, will be 290 miles, and that’s 290 rough miles driven with a healthy pace. So in addition to proving the durability of the platform, Lordstown will need to strategize and make time for a charging stop. Then again, we suppose they could add a little battery capacity for the race, since it won’t be a straight production truck. We’ll have to wait for the company to reveal more details, as a representative told us they’re still putting together the race vehicle. This is also why you only see the early skateboard truck at the top of this post. Read More Here!!
