1961 F-100 Unibody Comes to Life at Sherman’s Garage
When something is genuinely rare—like a fourth-generation Unibody from 1961-’61—it deserves a second look. Brian Sherman, owner of “Rusty,” a ’61 F-100 Unibody, gave this rusted old truck another look and resurrected it with the help of Drew Brothers Customs. As for its perfectly patinaed rusty exterior, Brian says, “This build is sponsored by Mother Nature.”
Ever wonder what it takes to put together your own set of custom seats? Check out this how-to video from Ford Era. We dropped in on a class held at Cato’s Custom Upholstery in Atlanta that teaches truck aficionados how to design and construct their own custom seats. It’s not as difficult as you may think!
Third time’s a charm! OBS Builder’s Guide is back with Volume 3 of this publication that’s dedicated to GM ’88-’98 GMT400 pickup trucks. In this issue, we bring sport truck master Mark Oja to handle the content, which includes our hot new parts buyer’s guide along with an audio buyer’s guide. We get technical with some tools while showing you the steps to a complete dash replacement. And we swap out the front grille with ease and even a complete sport truck coilover conversion. We also report from Dino’s Git Down in Arizona and the OBS Talk Reunion event. All that and so much more!

It’s easy to come up with a great concept for a project, get the truck, and tear into it only for another great idea to come along that requires a totally different truck. Oftentimes your old idea is like somebody else’s new idea. And if the opposite is also true, a deal can be made. Sometimes a truck will go through several owners and never get finished. While everyone at least knows about trucks like that, we believe we might have found a new world record holder.
