Perfect in Patina: 1959 Ford F-250
Rob Koolen has always wanted to build a killer vintage Ford truck. Residing in Orangeville, Ontario, Canada, he found it difficult to find the truck to match his taste. Making a few trips to the States, Rob found exactly what he was looking for in Texas: a 1959 Ford F-250. The truck had just the right patina for Rob’s taste, but it wasn’t rotted in the wrong places, and the panels were straight considering the truck’s age and history.
With the growing wave of EVs emerging from the horizon, a forming swell of doubt seems to be coming from the “opposition.” Questions of dependability, sustainability, and overall function are being thrown about from a lot of directions as more fully electric vehicles are introduced to the new-car marketplace—not to mention those coming from the custom segment as well. If you aren’t fully onboard with these sentiments just yet, wait until you’ve heard from Casey Loter and seen what he has done with his 1958 Chevy Apache pickup.
HRPT: These four letters, an acronym for the Hot Rod Power Tour, signify an annual thrashing—one that has been on our bucket list for years. In 2022 all the stars aligned, and we were able to make it out for the multi-state ride. The HRPT is the world’s largest traveling car show. With more than 3,500 registered participants and thousands of spectators at each venue, it truly is one of the most magical experiences you can have in this hot-rodding world of ours.
It’s a story as old as time (especially magazine time!). You want to get a classic truck for cruising around town, maybe a weekend cruiser paired with shop truck/parts runner. Nothing over the top … no wild show truck build. Just a good ol’ truck truck! We wanted to kick off a magazine build for our dedicated F-100 readers that is just that, so let us introduce our next project—Budget Minded Bumpside (or BMB as we so affectionately have been calling her!).
Our next project is off and we are excited to bring you the first episode of Project….. um… Gold Truck? We need a name for this one, can you help? We are taking this 90’s styled Chevy C10 and bringing it into the modern age of upgrades with a new QA1 suspension with rack and pinion along with a fresh 6.0-liter LS engine swap. Let’s go!
The Classic Parts of America C10 Nationals held at the Texas Motor Speedway—dubbed the Throwdown in Cow Town—was advertised as “the largest GM truck show on the planet!” If you’re going to tout yourself as the biggest and the baddest of anything in Texas, you better bring your A game, and this year’s event sponsored by Chevrolet Performance did not disappoint at all. The long list of entertaining activities went on all weekend long!
