Restoring an OBS Chevy Indianapolis Pace Truck
Ty Zito of Prairieville, Louisiana, has been a fan of the Indy 500 Chevy truck for years but has always been hesitant to purchase one. These pickups are sometimes placed on the chopping block by automotive auction houses, but every now and then, one will surface on Craigslist for a steal. After years of searching, the stars aligned for Ty. An Indy truck was listed for sale in Ow-ensboro, Kentucky, at a price he was willing to pay. And while the drive was a little too far for him at that time, he lucked out when Chris Stafford of C/K Syndicate agreed to go fetch the truck on his behalf. Game on!
In the latest issue of C10 Builder’s Guide, we celebrated someone who make this scene so spe-cial—the “Big Kat” himself! That’s right, we put Dino’s mug smack dab on the cover. And here, we take a deeper dive into his personal truck build and a special look at Dino’s Git Down and how big it has become. So, we got Dino on the phone during his largest show yet and here’s what he had to say.

Designer, engineer, and mega-detail-freak Jonathan Ward started creating his Reformers se-ries of vehicles when he decided to put himself in the shoes of the original designers. If they did not have to consider scale production processes and cost, what would they have dreamed of actually offering their customers? Jonathan runs Icon Customs in Los Angeles, a boutique auto-motive company that revisits ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s iconic car designs, mixing them with top-of-the-line modern engineering. See what he did to this Ford F-250 Crew Cab!
