Buying, Building a Childhood Dream Truck
Good things do come to those who wait and wait and wait. Not to sound cliche, but patience is key and timing is everything—it worked for Joey Loiacano and his 1971 Chevy C10 Cheyenne. He seized the chance to take ownership of a truck he had his eye on since he was a kid. “My truck obsession started way back when I would see this ’71 Chevy drive by my house every day,” he says. “The man driving would always wave and beep on his way to his business, a body shop that was located at the end of my street. As I got older, I would ride my bike over to the shop and look at the truck and all the other cool cars that were there.”
Mexican Fiesta brings the sound, culture, and taste of Mexico to Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s lake-front—not to mention 300-plus custom vehicles! It’s three days of fun, food, Mariachi, and fies-ta for everyone. Mexican Fiesta is more than just a celebration. It’s an affirmation of the belief that the Hispanic community is alive with promise. Education is the key to the future, and through scholarship awards, the festival becomes the gateway to young Hispanic men and women taking their rightful place in society.

The classic look of a two-door cab had always caught Sammy Cantu’s attention, so he decided to customize one for him and his family. “With my newest build, I chose an ’06 Chevy Silverado SS for a few specific reasons,” Sammy says. “The most important reason for my decision is hav-ing the ability to have enough room to take my entire family to a show or a cruise in one single truck, and to do that we would need one with a back bench seat at least.” To start, he knew he wanted to ‘bag it, and he did so with help from Shorty’s Customs.
