Lifted, lowered, classic, and late-model trucks and SUVs flock to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center in Biloxi every year to be a part of the South’s largest premier automotive show—Scrapin’ the Coast. This event debuted back in 2002 and has steadily increased in size and popularity among those living in the region as well as those who make the journey from afar to experience everything the Gulf Coast has to offer. Taking place throughout the weekend of June 23-25, 2023, the 21st installment of Scrapin’ the Coast saw one of its largest turnouts to date. While it does get a little steamy along the coastal Mississippi area, those in attendance made sure to take full advantage of the roomy, air-conditioned indoor area at the showgrounds, which has proven to be a popular spot to hang out during the hotter parts of the day. Wherever you happen to find yourself at the showgrounds, you’ll surely find some type of customized vehicle to check out or a cool vendor spot to shop for new merch. Those looking to put their show vehicles to the test, the stereo competition is the proving grounds to battle for the loudest and clearest sound signal awards, as well as an air bag/hydraulic hop off that takes behind the main stage. If neither of those attractions piques your interest, the cornhole tournament located in the lobby of the convention center has become a great alternative to vehicle-orientated events at the show. In between all that excitement, live performances from multiple bands, sets from DJ Get Low in the American Force booth, as well as entertainment from DJ Maze & Toast on the main stage provided extra value to the price of admission. Showgoers also had an opportunity to participate in an auction on Saturday just before the awards presentation to benefit Scrapin’ for a Cause— a great addition to the show that promotes giving back to the cruising community. Long story short, there was not a shortage of things to do and see all weekend long. Those who have been to Scrapin’ in the past know to expect an amazing weekend. Those who haven’t had the opportunity to check it out for themselves, do yourself a favor by making plans to go in 2024. It doesn’t matter what style/make/model truck you have—the most important factor is that you bring it out and enjoy an unforgettable getaway to the Mississippi Coast. There’s a reason why Scrapin’ the Coast is STILL one of the best shows out there 20+ years down the line.
