The year 2020 will be one to remember, that is for sure. That being said, we here at Street Trucks are just as sick of talking about it and hearing about it as you are, so let’s just say it once and move on: All proper safety precautions were taken by the Slamboree show staff and the Grand Casino itself. Whew. Now for important things! The 2020 show, held July 31-Aug. 2, was a much-needed event for all in attendance. Many shows since March 2020 were forced to cancel, and many upcoming shows are not happening—even SEMA was a no-go. A lot of the events we enthusiasts look forward to will not happen. Lucky for us, show runner Jimmie Broyles is the hero we all need but do not deserve. With the help of his show staff, Slamboree—as always—was one of the smoothest-run and most organized shows. More than 800 vehicles came out to support the Shawnee, Oklahoma-based show and get a refresher on their passion for the scene. If you have never attended this show, start making plans to be there this year. It is one of the biggest in the country at this point and edging toward 30 years strong! The Midwest has become one of the biggest, if not the biggest, hubs of bodied truck builders in the nation. Attendees can always expect some incredible builds. Builders such as Phat Phabz, GameOver Built, Extensive, Stone Cold Customs and KC Autoworkx are all in attendance and local to the show, just to name a few. If that doesn’t clue you in to the list of sponsors already, this show is backed by American Force, Viair, Drop Em Wear, Kustomz Ink Klothing, Kicker and many more! Show judges do a fantastic job of walking around to view every vehicle in the show and categorize them all for over 100-plus awards, including one of the most notoriously impressive Best of Show awards we have come across. In 2020, it was as if nature knew we all needed a beautiful weekend for this show, with some of the best temperatures in many years for an Oklahoma summer. From watching Brandon at the Gooch Customs booth laying stripes down by hand to eating at one of the multiple restaurants inside the hotel, or even throwing a little money out in the casino, there were plenty of things to do if walking the show or having a few cold ones. Slamboree welcomes not only trucks of all kinds, but motorcycles, imports, hot rods and anything in between, so there is plenty of diversity to appreciate for everyone! Make your room reservations now for 2021! It will, and does, sell out fast every time! In 2020, it was as if nature knew we all needed a beautiful weekend for this show, with some of the best temperatures in many years for an Oklahoma summer.
